I have one of the best birthday shows around. I performed my first birthday show over 20 years ago and since then have literally done thousands of birthday parties and other children's shows. I very much enjoy performing for children. I am currently available for birthday shows, but thought I'd list the time constraints that I have in my current schedule. Each Saturday I perform at Hollywood Connections and my time commitment is from about 1:30 to 5:15. Thus a birthday show on a Saturday would need to be scheduled either before or after that time and alow allow for traveling time to get to and from the event. For weekday shows I am available after 5:30. Sunday's are my day off.
Here are some of the details about my birthday show. The typical show is 40 minutes long and is very fast paced. I don't want any wandering attention spans during the show. My material includes magic, comedy, balloon art and juggling. I involve the birthday child quite a bit as a volunteer and my trademark style is to make the birthday child do a better magical job than the magician. It's really funny and the kids love to think that they are one up on the magician. I have carefully designed the show to be quick to set up and very portable so I can perform it in any location that will fit all the kids. I pack all of my tricks in a small table that's about 1 foot by 2 feet, and then just need enough room for myself and a volunteer to stand in front of the audience, usually around 3 feet by 6 feet.
The best format that I have found for a magic birthday is to schedule the kids to arrive at least 15 minutes before the show start time to allow for any late arrivals. Have a small activity planned for this time. The magic show happens next, followed by the birthday cake and presents. Then like magic, you're all done (a very easy party to host).
My typical birthday show fee for the Salt Lake Valley is $185.00, for Toella, Orem, and Bountiful/Layton add an extra $25.00 for travel time. I do travel further than that but will require a higher fee for the travel time. Give me a call to discuss the distance to the event and I'll quote a price to you.
I do offer some extras after the show if you are interested. I can blow up balloon animals for all the kids after the show for an extra $25.00. The kids love this feature as it's very fun and it adds approximately 15 minutes extra to the show time.
I offer to bring an illusion where I levitate the birthday child (a great photo opportunity and fun memory for the birthday child) for an extra $25.00. A video of this trick may be seen on the video page (link is volunteer levitation). Performing this trick requires a some extra space as I'll need room to place two chairs and a platform and be able to walk around the trick.
I offer individual magic sets for the birthday kids for an extra $5.00 per set. Each set contains four magic tricks that are easy to perform and include instructions explaining how to do the effects. Pictures of the sets are shown at the bottom of the page.
I don't perform with live animals, my regular show material is so strong that I don't need any extra gimmicks!
